Leather subcategories

Leather straps on a roll

Top-grain and vegetable-tanned leather straps sold by the metre, in widths from 10 to 40 mm and thicknesses from 2 to 4 mm. Suitable for belts, dog leads, bag handles and horse halters. Available on rolls of 25 to 50 metres or cut to your required length.

Leather cord

Flat and round leather cord from 1 mm upwards in natural, black and brown. Used for necklaces, pendants and jewellery.

Nappa leather

Soft, fine-grain leather from 1 mm thick. Ideal for jewellery cords, thin straps and lightweight accessories where flexibility matters more than rigidity.

Vegetable-tanned leather

Firm, natural leather sold as material rather than pre-cut straps, that develops a patina over time and hardens with use. The standard choice for belts, dog collars and anything that needs to hold its shape under load.

Leather remnants

Offcuts and panels left over from larger hides, sold in irregular sizes at a lower price per piece. A practical way to test a colour or grain before committing to a full strap, or to source small pieces for patching, keychains and other compact projects.

Leather sewing thread

Waxed polyester thread for hand-stitching leather, in sizes from 0.5 to 1.2 mm. Strong, smooth and available in multiple colours. Brands include Xiange Twist and Linhasita waxed cord.

Leather tools

Everything you need to cut, punch, stitch and finish leather: swivel knives, hole punches, saddle needles, edge finishers and contact adhesives. Brands include CraftPlus and Ivan Leathercraft. Read more on how to use them in our blog post Leatherworking Tools.

Frequently asked questions

What types of leather does Paracord.eu sell?

We stock leather straps on a roll, leather cord, nappa leather, vegetable-tanned leather, leather remnants, waxed sewing thread and leatherworking tools. Straps are available from 10 to 40 mm wide and 2 to 4 mm thick.

Which leather is best for a belt or dog collar?

Vegetable-tanned or top-grain leather from 3 to 4 mm thick gives the best rigidity for belts and dog collars. Pair it with a triglide or snap hook rated to your dog's weight.

Which leather is best for jewellery and necklaces?

Thin leather cord or nappa leather from 1 to 2 mm is flexible enough for bracelets, necklaces and pendants. Round leather cord from 1.5 to 2 mm is the most common choice for pendants.

Can I order leather by the metre?

Yes, selected leather straps and cord are sold by the metre or on a roll and cut to your required length. See leather straps on a roll for the full range and available lengths.

What waxed thread do you stock for leather stitching?

We stock Xiange Twist waxed polyester thread (0.5 to 0.8 mm) and Linhasita waxed cord (0.5 to 1.0 mm). Both are suited to hand-stitching leather with a saddle needle; 0.8 mm is a good starting size for most projects.
